On the 14th of March, the official Grand Prix Online Bahrain Grand Prix was a go!
The Bahrain Grand Prix has a new layout for the 2010 season, which wasn’t really liked by the community.
The new section of the track is very slow, about third gear all along, sometimes lower.
Qualifying:
Went into qualifying not too confident, since I didn’t know what to expect.
After a few laps, I decided to return to the pits and waiting for an open spot for my lap.
I put in a 1.57.158, which is 1 tenth away from my personal best, which putted me in third place.
I decided to retire to the pits and wait there to the end of the session.
This turned out to be a good decision, driving would have only gotten me more tired, and in the end only Ed Williams managed to drop me another position, which made me start from the fourth spot on the grid. Like my teammate Nick Oldenhuis, I’d have to start on the dirty side of the track.
Race:
Started off a bit slow, just trying to keep my car alive, and for the first few laps, managed to keep up with Malcolm, Ed and Nick. When Ed Williams crashed, i had quite a long distance between Nick and myself.
I had to pit in lap 12, since my soft tyres were completely gone, I went to the hard tyres, and finished the race on those clean in third position!
In 2 weeks time, Michael and GRIDline racing will be in Australia, Melbourne, for another thrilling round in Albert Park.

Congrats Michael! You drove a great race for the podium
First of many!
